How Visualising can help you reach your goals, A technique Olympic Athletes use...

I have been using the visualisation technique before I new it had a name. I used to play Hockey (ground), be on the Swim team and do Synchronised swimming. Before my competitions I naturally used to visualise the race, the game or the event and see myself competing. I have since heard that Olympic Athletes use these techniques. I teach these techniques in my coaching program as I know it can help you reach the next level in your goals or habit change.

This is a handy tool to have if you are in a difficult situation, such as the Dentist. You can visualise yourself doing something fun such as lying on a beach or skydiving.

In habit change you can visualise going through the ritual of doing the activities such as exercise. You can visualise putting on your running shoes, running outdoors, noticing the fresh air, the sounds and sights., hear your breath and crunching on the gravel etc. Sometimes I have needed to go out for a walk when the temperature is below 20 deg C and I will visualize the whole event, especially how I feel when I am done the event. This usually gets me out the door.

If you are struggling or feel stuck give this a try. Sit tall in a chair or lie down and take 5 deep breaths so you can focus and begin to allow your mind to focus on your activity.

I hope this is helpful,

Blessings
