Asian Broccoli and Cauliflower Mint Slaw. Loving the Asian flavors
I do love Asian flavors. Toasted Sesame seed oil brings out such a distinctive taste that an Asian Dish would be incomplete without it. I use a good brand of toasted Sesame oil as you only need a couple of teaspoons to get that wonderful taste.
Asian Broccoli and Cauliflower Mint Slaw
1 head Broccoli
1 head cauliflower
1 cup roughly chopped Almonds
1/4 cup torn mint leaves
1 tsp black sesame seeds
1 tsp white sesame seeds
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt or Himalayan salt
Dressing
1/4 cup Tamari or light soy sauce
2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1 Tbs Maple syrup
1 Tbs white miso
1 orange, juiced or if using a Vita mix , peel and add orange whole
1 lime juiced or if using a vita mix peel half a lime and add to blender
1 pinch red pepper flakes (if you like it spicy add more)
1 Tsp minced peeled ginger or put whole in vita mix if using
Salad
ut broccoli and cauliflower florets into 1/2 inch pieces. Peel tany tough skin from the stems and cut the stems into 1/2 inch pieces.
Dressing
Add all the dressing to a blender and mix until smooth or add all the ingredients to a large bowl and whisk together. Add to vegetable mix and mix well just before serving.
